Research Interests: Civil Aircraft Flight Test Technology
Speech Title: Next-Gen Technology for Civil Aircraft Flight Test
Abstract: This talk outlines the future development of flight test technology through: Virtual Flight Test (VFT) Technology and Intelligent Monitoring Technology. These Next-Gen Technologies aim to address the critical challenges of high risk, heavy workload, and massive data accumulation inherent in civil aircraft flight testing. Virtual Flight Test Technology leverages computer simulation to model flight scenarios, validate aircraft performance, and optimize test methodologies before real-world execution. Intelligent Monitoring Technology transitions from human-centric to machine-driven oversight through automation, predictive analytics, and AI-driven decision support. By integrating physical models, data-driven algorithms, and knowledge graphs, it enables real-time anomaly detection, trend forecasting, and rapid fault resolution. Together, these technologies promise to revolutionize flight testing by shortening development cycles, reducing costs, and enhancing safety.
Short Biography: Mi Yi graduated from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics with a major in Navigation, Guidance and Control in 2009. In 2011, he obtained the qualification of a Fixed Wing Aircraft Test Engineer from Test Flight Academy of South Africa. By 2025, he earned his Doctor of Engineering in Electronics and Information from Northwestern Polytechnical University. Since joining COMAC in 2009, he has spearheaded pioneering research in flight test engineering, virtual flight testing, and flight test master plan. His technical leadership significantly contributed to the flight testing campaigns for both C909 and C919 aircraft programs, playing an instrumental role in securing airworthiness certifications. Currently serving as Chief Flight Test Engineer, he oversees preparatory operations for the C929 wide-body jet's upcoming flight trials.
He was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award of Shanghai Youth Science and Technology, the Outstanding Communist Party Member of Shanghai, and the third-class merit of individual for the first flight of C919 aircraft.
