Title: Quantifying Safe Dynamic Performance Boundaries for eVTOL aircraft

Abstract: This talk presents our latest research results in determining safe flight performance boundaries for eVTOL aircraft under dynamic conditions. These boundaries concern the dynamic flight envelopes and the maneuverability, which are important for real-world operation and challenging to determine due to the highly dynamic nature of eVTOL aircraft. The definitions, quantification approaches, and applications will be introduced in detail.

Short-biography: Dr. Haichao Hong received his Bachelor's degree in aircraft design and engineering, and Ph.D. degree in aeronautical and astronautical science and technology from Beijing Institute of Technology, China, in 2013 and 2019, respectively. Before joining the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an associate professor in 2022, Dr. Hong worked as a postdoc at the Institute of Flight System Dynamics, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, starting in 2019. He was also a visiting Ph.D. student there from 2014 to 2016. Dr. Hong serves as a member on the editorial board for Aerospace Systems and the GNC technical committee of AIAA. He was the recipient of the TUM University Foundation Fellowship in 2020.
