Research Interest: Image and video processing, including applications in embedded systems and aerial devices

Speech Title:  Multispectral and HDR Image and Video Processing

Abstract:

The talk will address the contemporary technologies of image and video acquisition and processing with focus on color/multispectral image acquisition as well as High Dynamic Range (HDR) video processing. Presence of these technologies in aerial devices, such as drones, became an important features in their applications ranging from object detection in surveillance tasks, through tracking of vehicles in traffic enforcement tasks, to applications in agriculture or environmental monitoring regarding features of plants, such as quality or readiness for harvest. While, in the principle, these types of video acquisition can be seen as resolved, technologically, they present an ongoing interesting challenge especially regarding their size, weight, power consumption, and, of course, economy. The contribution will mention several practical methods of addressing these issues and show some experimental setups and results.

Short-biography:

Pavel Zemcik is professor and vice-dean at Faculty of Information Technology, Beno University of Technology, Brno, Czech Republic. He also graduated from Brno University of Technology. During his professional carries, he visited several renowned academic institutions, such as University of Bristol, UK, for 4 months, University of Surrey, UK for total of 3 months, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland, for 6 months, he was acting as a visiting professor at PennState, Erie, PA, USA for 5 months and he currently acts as a visiting professot at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, Finland, as a visiting professor. He has over 180 scientific publications including papers in the proceedings of various renowned international scientific conferences as well as in international scientific journals, he also participated on development of over 30 functional samples and software tools, as well as 5 patents and industrial products.
